In 2006 October 17, the Central Bank of Sri Lanka
(CBSL) issued
for circulation, new higher denomination 2000 Rupee Currency Notes dated
2005-11-02 assocated with a series of notes that
started in 1991 on theme Sri Lanka Heritage.

Security A 4mm Starchrome Thread with SRI LANKA RS 2000 and Mirror of same
interspaced with butterfly Motif along security strip.
Micro-printing background pattern.
UV Printing: Front: Serial Number on left in red, on right not visible.
A rectangular highlight large numeric 2000 upper left of center,
and floral motifs 8 each on top and bottom edge in Green. Beautiful detailed
highlight of the background sesatha in red, yellow and blue.
Back: Small yellow Highlight design along top of frame, and horizontal band of
square blue tiles with lotus in lower bottom.
Latent image: In center of decorate at front top right corner,
