Thomas De La Rue Essays for
Central Bank of Ceylon
1956-1968

A collection of Nine Banknote design Essays for Central Bank of Ceylon which were never used. Five Front designs with two dummy Signatures and Date. Four Back designs, three with name THOMAS DE LA RUE & COMPANY LIMITED, with only one matching Pair. By the absence of name of Central Bank in Tamil and English all these essays must be from 1956-68 era. All issued notes for Central Bank of Ceylon from 1951-69 were printed by Bradbury Wilkinson.

Name of essayer not given on front but these with Dummy Signatures in English can be associated with Thomas De La Rue & Co Ltd as the Kandyan dancer head was used by a retired Thomas de la Rue engraver in a fantasy and the note above, with the Isurumuniya Lovers paired with the Independence Hall on back.

The notes at xx,xx,xx,xx and xx dpi are displayed at about 50 dpi if assuming height of 1956 notes.
