Numeric Denomination £1 in 4 corners with unit of currency. Within border on top ASIATIC BANKING CORPORATION below center crowned British Royal Coat of arms in decorate within belt with legend THE ASIATIC BANKING CORPORATION and below in waving scroll legend INCORPORATED _ BY ROYAL _ CHARTER. On either side Denomination in English in decorate with No ##### in shaded rectangle below. Within shaded rectangle shape THE ASIATIC BANKING CORPORATION Promises to pay bearer on demand at their Branch in COLOMBO in the Currency of the Island ONE POUNDS value received THE ASIATIC BANKING CORPORATION in Micro-Text cover shaded region with Denomination outlined in large Text on it.

Back : On a elaborate decorate of full back of currency Note. Diagonally within circles in four corners Numeric £1 with ONE on either side in annulus. On Upper left and lower right from out to in denomination in Rupees in annulus upper in Thamil பத்துரூபாய் & lower in Sinhala රුපියල්දහයයි. On Upper right and lower left from out to in denomination in Pounds in annulus upper in Thamil ஒருபவுண்ட் & lower in Sinhala පවඬ්එකයි Large outline of ONE overlayed with POUND at Center within a wavy loop of twenty five small circles with numeric £1 connected by arcs with ONE POUND in micro-print. A flowered design fill the background within decorated border.
Watermark : ASIATIC in a downward arc above BANKING CORPORATION in an upward arc below, written with Lighter than paper outline. (Need to confirm it is same)

Size : Size of Frame Measured on £1 note from Colombo National Museum collection.

Note that the value in vernacular Sinhala and Thamil is also given in Rupees, as the Indian Rupee was the familiar currency in circulation. One Pound Sterling equaled to Ten Rupees.

This byface type is similar to the square 10 Shillings note. All issued notes of this type don't have the unit of currency £ in numeric denomination, so this type may only be Specimen, which was never issued.
