The Central Bank of Sri Lanka (CBSL) issued in for circulation, a 500 Rupee Currency Notes in a series of Notes called Sri Lanka Historical and Development.

In Top center in Sinhala, ශ්‍රී ලංකා මහ බැංකුව, இலங்கை மத்திய வங்கி in Thamil and Central Bank of Sri Lanka in English in next two lines with decreasing font size.

UV-printing in front of Notes issued with date 1987-01-01 is in Yellow, while the later dates 1988-11-21 1989-02-21 and 1990-04-05 is in Green

Have image of 1988 Rs500 Replacement note with low serial number 1321. The expected 0.2% of 1987 replacement notes is 10,000 for 5M issue. The higher denomination replacements of these older issues are more common than the lower. So probably the 1987 Rs 500 may not have used replacements like the Rs1000.

The Central Bank of Ceylon Rs 500, Rs 1000 first issued in 1981 did not the Picture captions included in other denominations issued from 1982. They have been included with redesign, changing UV images to new format as well.
The note was scanned at 300 dpi and displayed at 50 dpi.
