The English name The Central Bank of Sri Lanka was adopted in 1986 and (CBSL) issued in for circulation, Currency Notes in a series that was called Sri Lanka Historical and Development.

The new name of Bank Central Bank of Sri Lanka in Front of Note and CENTRAL BANK OF SRI LANKA on Back. This format was used from 1987 to 2006 and the Front reverted to all Capitals in 2010.
